His Delight, His Applause
For the High Calling Blogs “I spied God in…” writing prompt:
The blue-sky sunlight teases guarding clouds.
I turn my back on kitchen-window view
When sudden shift envelops sky in shroud
Of clouds now gray and darkened. Thunder, too,
Announces rain abrupt on window pane.
Then, spying God not in the rain I saw
But in the rain I heard, I heard the rain
And in it heard His thunderous applause!
Applause for those in whom He takes delight:
Obeying fully, faithful, just and fair,
Not in the ones who trust in human might.
What pleases Father: thanking, praising prayer.
But why would Holy One delight in me?
It is not me; it is His Son He sees.

A sonnet. I’m so impressed!
I loved this part:
“Then, spying God not in the rain I saw
But in the rain I heard…”

Thanks for your visit to my blog. This is a beautiful, deeply meaningful poem! Growing up I was taught that God is shouting at us in His thunder and zapping us with His lightening. As a child of God and through His amazing grace I have learned otherwise! God is good! Thanks for this post. I’ll be back to read more.
