Dinner Table
Garlic-sweet oven scents
greet at the door, Come in!
Iced tea takes your coat
and tinkles, So glad you’re here!
Flaky-dough appetizer pockets.
Pine nuts, cranberries, poppyseed dressing
on salad smile: How’ve you been?
Rice cooker dings, Come to the table!
Green onions and asparagus on apricot chicken
wonder, What’s on your mind?
Ganache top on white-chocolate cheesecake
warms and comforts, You’ll stay a while, won’t you?
Just brewed, just-right coffee mines your soul
and assures, You are safe here. You can tell me…
Extras on a foil-covered paper plate
accompany you home. Can’t wait till next time!

And, speaking of food…
Wednesday Giveaways
And, on the food of the Word, an invitation:
Because I am wildly excited about this Wednesday series…
…I am hosting four wild giveaways! For the next four Wednesdays, I will be giving four different books, all of which are excellent resources on Bible reading—meeting with God in His Word. To share these books with you would be a true delight.
Want to come over on Wednesday? I’d love to have you! Say you’ll come!

I just loved this line “Iced tea takes your coat”
Food, making us at home. But of course.

Love this poem. I always wondered if anybody else heard the food talkin’ to the soul… Since we put tidbits of our very self into the food we prepare for others, it is no wonder a meal can offer such sweet-talk!
