Gratitude: Better Than Coffee
Jetlag. Well, not really jetlag, because I haven’t been anywhere. But the symptoms are the same: heavy brain, blurred peripheral vision, slow reflexes, brain fog.
Jetlag of the spirit. I am not alert. I call them “cardboard days” when I am spiritually dull and dry. Just blah. If it were my watch on the tower, the castle would be overtaken, caught off guard, unawares.
Lately, my prayer life has been sleepy and sluggish.
Lately, I have not been cultivating thankfulness.
There is a correlation.
Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving.
- Colossians 4:2 (NASB)
Gratitude keeps me alert! Gratitude is the cold-water splash on my face calling me out of the stupor. Thanking God keeps me aware…of Him.
And so I keep counting.

Spiritual jetlag–oh, I am there. And trying to shake it. Thank you for the reminder!

I loved the title of the blog and the analogy of Spiritual Jetlag. Thank you! I needed the reminder as well…
