The Right to Write:
An Invitation and Initiation into the Writing Life,
by Julia Cameron
Laura Boggess leads our discussion (and links to other posts).
**********
What is it about holy ground that calls
for bare feet? Standing alone,
I untie resistant straps and take
away sandal-leather, false
protection for soles calloused
and inaccessible.
I slip bare feet from covered
isolation and step out
of hiding, honest flesh on warm earth.
Now I am open, unhidden, prone
to easy wounds
but never under better protection
and no longer alone.

Monica, you’ve captured so beautifully the essence of Cameron’s chapter.

Oh, so fun! I”ll link to it tonight sometime, Monica. I”m at work and my filters here won’t let me on the HCB site (it blocks anything to do with “traditional religions).
I love your poetic take on vulnerability.
