There You Are!
There are two kinds of personalities in this world, and you are one of the two. People can tell which, as soon as you walk into a room: your attitude says either “Here I am,” or “There you are.”
- Anne Ortlund, Disciplines of the Beautiful Woman, p. 95
There you are, lovely or unlovely.
There you are, first greeted, or last.
There you are, on stage or backstage.
There you are, single, childless.
There you are in line, two toddlers in the cart.
There you are, quiet one, today conversation-less.
There you are, outspoken storyteller, loquacious.
There you are smiling, always, always smiling.
There you are, too, when you turn away.
There you are, passing items through the scanner.
There you are, Linda, I see your name tag.
There you are in the waiting room.
There you are, I see your eyes, blue.
There you are, loved by God. He sees you
there where you are, you are,
you are.
Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.
- Philippians 2:3-4

I love this!! Oh to lose the whine of the affirmation junkie…may her cry be drowned in the evidences of Grace in the lives of others.

There you are, one of thoughtful words.
Thanks for this perspective.

Your words sing such ordinary things, but in such an extraordinary way. How did you meld those two?
Blessings.

“There you are smiling, always smiling…”
Somehow this seemed both joyful and sorrowful to me.
